Informativa sulla privacy
Versione 1.5 — 30 settembre 2026
(Chromecast, Google Cast, DLNA/UPnP). Questa informativa spiega, in parole semplici,
quali dati Beamcast tratta e dove restano. Non è una consulenza legale.
1. In sintesi
- Puoi cancellare i tuoi dati in qualsiasi momento dall'app o disinstallandola.
2. Chi gestisce Beamcast e come contattarci
dati puoi scrivere a beamcast.app@gmail.com.
3. Cosa Beamcast non fa
- Nessun account e nessuna registrazione: usi l'app senza fornire nome, email o telefono.
Aggiornata a ogni cambio.
trasmette. Secondo Google questi dati:
- sono anonimi e non collegati alla tua identità;
- servono a capire l'utilizzo delle versioni del Cast SDK e a migliorare l'esperienza di trasmissione;
- non si possono disattivare e non si possono cancellare dall'app;
- quale operazione è stata fatta e con quale esito, per esempio se il collegamento a Google Play è riuscito e quanto ha impiegato;
questi dati. Google ne ha dato notizia nelle
note di rilascio della libreria
(versione 6).
In
- Servizio in primo piano (
FOREGROUND_SERVICE, FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MEDIA_PLAYBACK): tenere viva la trasmissione mentre usi altre app.
- Rete (
10. Come cancellare i tuoi dati
L'app vieta
versione in alto.
cambiare telefono senza perdere liste, segnalibri e impostazioni.

Privacy Policy
Version 1.5 — 30 September 2026
Beamcast is an Android app that helps you find videos and other content — on the web or
on your phone — and cast them to a TV or a compatible device (Chromecast, Google Cast,
DLNA/UPnP). This policy explains, in plain language, what data Beamcast handles and where
it stays. It is not legal advice.
1. In short
- Beamcast has no accounts, requires no sign-up, has no ads, and does not profile you.
- Your data (history, bookmarks, lists, preferences) stays on this phone. Beamcast has no server of its own and sends it to no one.
- There are two exceptions, both Google components that cannot be turned off: Google Cast technology sends some anonymous technical data to Google when you look for or use a casting device, and Google Play's billing library sends Google technical data about how it is working every time you open the app or leave it (section 5).
- If you choose to unlock Beamcast Premium, the payment is handled entirely by Google Play: Beamcast does not see your card, does not know your name, and keeps no list of your purchases. It is not a subscription (section 6).
- You can delete your data at any time from the app or by uninstalling it.
2. Who runs Beamcast and how to contact us
Beamcast is developed by Marco Forlin. For any question about this policy or your data,
write to beamcast.app@gmail.com.
3. What Beamcast does not do
- No account and no sign-up: you use the app without providing a name, email, or phone number.
- No advertising tracking: no ad networks and no advertising identifiers.
- No Beamcast analytics: we do not collect usage statistics or crash reports with tools of our own.
- No profiling of your tastes or habits.
- No Beamcast server to send your data to.
4. The data that stays on your phone
Beamcast stores some information only in the app's private storage. None of this
data leaves the phone.
Browsing historyAddresses and titles of pages visited in the built-in browser. Until you clear it. Settings → Browser → "Clear history", or turn off "Save history".
BookmarksThe sites you save. As long as you keep them. Remove the individual bookmark.
WatchlistsTitles, addresses, covers, progress. As long as you keep them. Delete the list or the individual item.
Resume pointsWhere you stopped a piece of content. 90 days, up to 200 entries. Settings → Privacy → "Clear resume points".
PreferencesTheme, search engine, skip seconds, etc. While the app is installed. Uninstall or the system's "Clear data".
Open browser tabsTo find your pages again after a restart. Updated on every change. Close the tabs or "Clear data".
In-page site data in the WebViewCookies, local storage, site cache. Managed by the WebView. The system's "Clear data".
Image cacheCovers and thumbnails. Temporary, cleared by the system. "Clear cache".
5. The two exceptions: Google Cast and Google Play Billing
Google Cast. To find and use Chromecast and Google Cast devices, Beamcast uses Google's Cast SDK.
Google states that this component collects and sends to Google some data when you look
for a device or start casting: generic discovery and session events, mobile device
information, and generic information about the app that is casting. According to Google, this
data:
- is anonymous and not linked to your identity;
- helps Google understand the adoption of Cast SDK versions and improve the casting experience;
- cannot be turned off and cannot be deleted from the app;
- is not shared by Google with third parties.
Beamcast does not decide which data is sent and cannot switch this off. Details in
Google's Cast SDK data disclosure.
DLNA/UPnP devices do not use the Cast SDK: everything happens only on your local Wi-Fi network.
Google Play Billing. For the optional premium purchase (section 6), Beamcast uses
Google's Play Billing Library. This library sends technical data about how it is working
directly to Google: it does so every time it connects to Google Play or disconnects from it,
that is when you open Beamcast and when you leave it, even if you never buy anything,
when you start a purchase, and when a request to Google Play fails. The data is:
- which operation was carried out and how it went, for example whether the connection to Google Play succeeded and how long it took;
- information about the phone and the app: make and model, Android version and firmware build, the amount of RAM, the language, country, and time zone set on the phone, the SIM operator, the type of network, and the versions of Beamcast and of the library.
It does not include your name, your email, your payment details, or an identifier of your
phone: only random numbers, new every time you open the app or start a purchase. Google says
this information is used to improve the performance of the library and to provide better
support for errors. Beamcast cannot turn this off or delete this data. Google announced it in
the library's release notes
(version 6).
6. In-app purchases
Beamcast is free to use: casting has no limits and there are no ads. There is an optional
purchase — "Beamcast Premium" — paid once, forever. It is not a subscription: nothing to
renew, nothing to cancel, nothing that expires.
If you already have premium, the Premium screen also offers "Support Beamcast": three
voluntary contributions of different amounts, which you can repeat and which unlock
nothing. They are paid through Google Play like premium, and Beamcast saves nothing about
them on the phone.
The payment is handled by Google Play, not by Beamcast. When you tap "Unlock", Google Play's
own window opens: you enter your payment details there, and they stay there. Beamcast does not
see your card number, your name, your address, or your email, and does not even know the amount
Google charges you: the price you read in the app is the one Google gives it, already written in your
currency.
What Beamcast knows about the purchase. One thing only: whether this phone's Google account
has bought premium or not. It asks Google Play and remembers the answer on the phone by writing
a single word in the app's private storage — "unlocked" or "not unlocked". It saves no
receipts, no order numbers, no dates, and no amounts, and it sends this information to no one:
Beamcast has no server. The Google Play library it asks with, however, sends Google
technical data about how it is working: see section 5.
If the payment is left pending. Some payment methods do not complete straight away. If that
happens the app tells you so and asks nothing of you: when Google Play confirms, premium activates by
itself.
How to restore it. The purchase is tied to your Google account, not to Beamcast. If you
reinstall the app or change phones it comes back on its own, as soon as Google Play confirms it; if it
does not, the "Restore purchase" button on the Premium screen asks again. No Beamcast account is
needed, because none exists. The system's "Clear data" does not lose your purchase either: what
it clears is the word written on the phone, not what Google Play knows.
Refunds and purchase history go through Google. Google is the one that sells and takes payment:
to request a refund or review your purchases, use Google Play (the Play Store app or
play.google.com). As the developer we receive order reports from
Google for accounting and to handle refunds, under the Google Play terms: they do not come from the app
and they do not contain your card details.
7. The sites you visit in the built-in browser
The pages you open are third-party sites: they may use cookies and trackers as in any
browser. Beamcast does not add and does not remove trackers; it simply displays the
pages. What those sites collect is governed by their own privacy policies, not by this one.
8. The permissions the app requests
- Notifications (
POST_NOTIFICATIONS): to show the notice that a list has stopped while Beamcast isn't on screen (for example with the screen locked), because the next episode has to be found again on its page. The notification with playback controls doesn't need it: Android shows it even without the permission. If you deny it, casting still works and the controls stay in the notification and on the lock screen, but you won't get that notice.
- Access to the phone's media (
READ_MEDIA_VIDEO, READ_MEDIA_IMAGES, READ_MEDIA_AUDIO, READ_MEDIA_VISUAL_USER_SELECTED, and, up to Android 12, READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE): to browse videos, photos, and music and cast them. If you deny it, you can still pick a single file with the system picker.
- Foreground service (
FOREGROUND_SERVICE, FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MEDIA_PLAYBACK): to keep the cast alive while you use other apps.
- Network (
INTERNET): to open pages and talk to casting devices.
- Network and Wi-Fi state (
ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE, ACCESS_WIFI_STATE, CHANGE_WIFI_MULTICAST_STATE): to check you are on Wi-Fi and find DLNA devices on the local network.
- Wake lock (
WAKE_LOCK): to keep the phone awake just long enough for the next item in a queue to start on its own, even with the screen locked — at most during the last two minutes of an item and the switch to the next one, never for the whole cast. The player also uses it for the in-app local preview.
- In-app purchases (
com.android.vending.BILLING): to connect to the Google Play app for the optional premium purchase (section 6). Google's billing library requires it. Beamcast connects to Google Play every time you open the app, even if you never buy anything, to read the prices and to know whether you have already unlocked premium, for example after reinstalling; at those moments the library sends Google the technical data described in section 5.
- A signature-only technical permission (
…DYNAMIC_RECEIVER_NOT_EXPORTED_PERMISSION) is generated by Android system libraries and cannot be granted to other apps.
Beamcast does not request location, contacts, microphone, camera, SMS, or phone.
9. Backup and changing phones
Automatic backup is disabled. History, bookmarks, lists, and resume points are
not copied to the cloud and are not transferred on their own to a new phone.
This is a privacy choice: your data stays on this device.
So that changing phones doesn't mean losing everything, Beamcast lets you
export your data to a file yourself (Settings → Privacy) and import it on the other
phone. It is a free feature, and it works like this:
- Nothing happens automatically: no cloud, no account, no scheduled backup. A file is
written only when you ask for it, and only where you choose to put it.
- The file holds your lists (with their items and your progress), your bookmarks and
your app settings.
- Your browsing history is left out unless you switch it on yourself before exporting.
- The file is not encrypted: we'd rather say so than suggest a protection that isn't
there. Once it's saved, it's yours to look after — if you copy it to a cloud service or send
it to someone, it leaves Beamcast's reach and follows that service's rules.
- Importing never overwrites anything silently: you first see what the file contains and
choose whether to merge it with what's already there or replace it, and replacing asks you to
confirm. If something goes wrong, nothing on the phone changes.
10. How to delete your data
- From the app's Settings: history (Browser), resume points (Privacy), individual lists, items, and bookmarks.
- From Android's system settings: "Clear data" removes everything, including site cookies and cache.
- By uninstalling the app: this removes all data Beamcast saved on this phone.
The technical data sent to Google by the Cast SDK and by Google Play's billing library (section 5) is the exception: Beamcast cannot delete it, and for the Cast SDK's data Google states that it cannot be deleted.
11. Children
Beamcast is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their
data. Because the app includes a browser that reaches the open web, we recommend adult
supervision for younger users.
12. Data security
The data stays in the app's private area, not accessible to other apps. The app forbids
cleartext traffic to the Internet. On the local Wi-Fi network, casting to devices may
happen in cleartext, as is unavoidable for DLNA and local files: that data does not leave
your network.
13. Changes to this policy
If we change how the app handles data, we update this policy and its date and version at the
top. We encourage you to re-read it from time to time.
What changed in version 1.5 (30 September 2026): section 5 has a second
exception, Google Play's billing library, which sends Google technical data about how it is
working every time the app connects to Google Play or disconnects from it, even if you never
buy anything. It has done so ever since the app has offered premium (since version 1.1 of
this policy), but earlier versions did not say so: sections 1, 6, 8, and 10 have been
corrected accordingly. In
section 8, moreover, the notifications permission (POST_NOTIFICATIONS) is
used only for the notice that a list has stopped on an episode that has to be found again on
its page. Version 1.4 said it was also needed for the notification with playback controls, but
Android shows that one anyway: if you deny the permission, the controls stay in the
notification and on the lock screen. Finally, section 6 also names the voluntary
"Support Beamcast" contributions, which the app offers to those who already have premium:
earlier versions spoke of a single purchase. The app hasn't changed its behavior: the
descriptions have been corrected. No permission is new and, compared with version 1.4, the
app collects no additional data: version 1.5 declares a flow that was already there.
What changed in version 1.4 (12 September 2026): in section 8, notifications
(POST_NOTIFICATIONS) are no longer used only for playback controls: when a list
stops while Beamcast isn't on screen (for example with the screen locked) because the next
episode has to be found again on its page, a notification says so and names the episode. It
stays on your phone, it is not a new permission and, compared with version 1.3, no
additional data is collected.
What changed in version 1.3 (12 September 2026): in section 8, the wake lock
(WAKE_LOCK) is no longer used only for the preview: Beamcast also uses it to keep
the phone awake while a queue moves on from one item to the next, so the next episode starts
even with the screen locked. It is not a new permission and, compared with version 1.2,
no additional data is collected.
What changed in version 1.2 (4 August 2026): section 9 now describes
exporting and importing your data to a file, the feature that lets you change phone
without losing your lists, bookmarks and settings. Compared with version 1.1, no additional
data is collected: you ask for the file, you choose where it goes, and it stays on your
device — it never passes through Beamcast, which has no servers.
What changed in version 1.1 (30 July 2026): section 6, on in-app purchases, was
added, because the app now offers the optional unlock of Beamcast Premium. Compared with version
1.0, no additional data is collected.
